All About Jon

I was raised in Green, right in the middle of Akron and Canton. I really don't have a city to call home (who has ever heard of Green?)  So, if you'll have me I'll go with Canton from here on out.  I feel like the fat kid in gym class...Pick me, Pick me!  I hope you are as happy to have me as I am to be in Canton.
My wife and I are the proud parents of two beautiful kids.  We have one boy and recently added a little girl to our family.  Having a girl is a lot different than a boy.  I am already thinking about things like makeup, dating and how in the world will I pay for a wedding!    Am I nuts or what?
I have spent the last ten years working at our sister station 98.1 WKDD.  When they told me this opportunity was available I jumped at it.  I think this station sounds great and I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

Tyson says goodbye to Labor Day
Tuesday 08-05-2008 6:26pm ET
I'm really bothered by the announcement from the Tyson Chicken Company whose union voted to drop Labor Day as a paid holiday in favor of the Muslim holiday of Eid al-Fitr.

What is wrong with us?  Let's put the shoe on the other foot.  If you or I were working in a Muslim country and decided we wanted the union to drop a Muslim holiday for an American one, what do you think the response would be?

Why do we as Americans think we have to accommodate everyone?  I guess I must be narrow-minded.  I still believe if you come to this country you should play the game the way we play it or go home.  That is what would be expected of us if the roles were reversed.  For some reason we are big mean Americans if we react the way the majority of the rest of the world would.

Don't get me wrong.  I do believe you should be able to practice your religion and for me this is not a religious issue.

People will say this is what makes us a better country than most.  I think it is our biggest weakness.
If you think gas is expensive!
Tuesday 05-27-2008 12:36pm ET
I complain a lot about the price of gas and how the oil companies are killing our economy.  Then I got this in my email and thought I would share it with you.  It must be written by someone who works for big oil!  Enjoy.

Diet Snapple 16 o.z. $1.29........$10.32 per gallon

Lipton Iced Tea 16o.z. $1.19.....$9.52 per gallon

Gatorade 20 o.z. $1.59........$10.17 per gallon

Brake Fluid 12o.z. $3.15......$33.60 per gallon

Vick's Nyquil 6 o.z. $8.35......$178.13 per gallon

Pepto Bismol 4 o.z. $3.85.....$123.20 per gallon

Scope 1.5 o.z $0.99........$84.48 per gallon

Evian Water 9 o.z. $1.49.....$21.19 per gallon (for water!)

Some estimates on the cost of printer ink have it as high as $5200.00 per gallon!

So next time you are depressed at the gas pump, be thankful your car doesn't run on Evian, Scope, Pepto, Nyquil or God forbid Printer Ink!
